Is it just me or does anyone else adore pretty little vintage looking things? It's not very often that beauty products come in such adorable packaging and with such a long and interesting history as Lehcaresor Papier Poudre.
The beauty and makeup industry seems to move pretty quickly these days and products come and go all the time. But Lehcaresor Papier Poudre is a brand of powdered blotting paper that has been around here in the UK for 110 years (1903 - 2013). Perhaps even more remarkably, Lehcaresor Papier Pouder is still just the same now as it was when it first began and it is as useful and as lovely a product as ever!
Blotting Paper: The Oily/Combination Skinned Girl's Best Friend!
If you have combination or oily skin like me, you may well be searching for new ways to keep your skin looking less shiny and increase the wear time of your makeup. My skin is very prone to developing an oily T-zone and usually by midday, my makeup can already look like it is in desperate need of touching up.
I realized quite some time ago that touching up my face with more pressed or loose powder throughout the day didn't really do much good as my makeup often seemed to end up looking uneven and blotchy. Unfortunately, in my experience, powdering alone doesn't actually do much to physically remove the excess oils from your face and just trying to cover them up doesn't really work either.
This is why blotting papers have become a staple product for me over the years and I carry them around in my handbag at all times for those inevitable little 'touch ups' on the go.
Lehcaresor Papier Poudre - The Original and perhaps the best...
I have tried quite a few different blotting papers over the years, both powdered and unpowdered, and a few that come to mind now are Cornsilk, Kleenex and Superdrug's own brand. Invariably some performed better than others but they were probably all inspired by the original Lehcaresor Papier Poudre.
Lehcaresor Papier Poudre is quite unique from any other blotting paper I've ever tried before and I do really love these for a few different reasons.
1). They are available in three different finishes (White, Rose & Rachel) to suit different skin tones.

2). The packaging makes it handy to pop a little booklet of Papier Poudre into your handbag for use on the go.
3). These definitely have the 'pretty factor'! The booklet is really dainty and looks like something from a doll's house and the illustration on the front is like a mini work of art!
4). Papier Poudre doesn't make my makeup go cakey and the delicate sheets don't rub off my makeup.
5). Papier Poudre is made from natural ingredients.
6). Each little book contains a generous 65 sheets of powdered blotting paper!
All of the above = #win!
Below is a picture of a used Papier Poudre Blotting Paper (apologies for the graphic illustration here!) The reason I'm showing this rather gross picture is because I think it shows that Papier Poudre effectively absorbs a lot of excess oils from your skin whilst leaving behind a nice residue of refreshing and mattifying powder (the darker colouring is where the paper has lifted the excess oils from the skin).

Lehcaresor Papier Poudre: As seen on TV!
Lehcaresor Papier Poudre has been featured in ITV 1's incredibly successful period drama series Mr Selfridge. It was displayed on the stunningly detailed and realistic beauty counter along with other classic products such as 4711 Eau de Cologne. I loved watching the first series of Mr Selfridge and I'm really pleased to know that there is going to be a second series and what's more, Lehcaresor Papier Poudre will be featured once again! I don't know about you, but I'm certainly going to be playing 'spot the Lehcaresor Papier Poudre' when the second series starts!
On a side note, if you haven't seen Mr. Selfridge, I'd highly recommend it. It's very interesting and very entertaining. In the last series, there was a lot of beauty related story lines and given the context, there is also lashings of vintage style and glamour to be found.

All in all, I have been completely 'wowed' by Lehcaresor Papier Poudre. It's an excellent product and all of the history and recent TV glamour really do give this product a fascinating twist.
